I ask to all Congolese to be ready to build our country the Democratic Republic of Congo. Don't ask what the Democratic Republic of Congo will do for you but ask what can you do for the Democratic Republic of Congo?
Don't expect someone to come and do it for us. It is our country. It is a destiny for our children and grand children. Please wake up let us stop outdated ideas.
I am begging you to tell your children and grand children, just like our national hero Patrice E. Lumumba that, "the future of the Congo is beautiful and that their country expects them, as it expects every Congolese, to fulfill the sacred task of rebuilding our independence, our sovereignty; for without justice there is no dignity and without independence there are no free men. We are not alone. Africa, Asia, and the free and liberated peoples in every corner of the globe will ever remain at the side of the millions of Congolese who will not abandon the struggle until the day when there will be no more colonizers and no more of their mercenaries in our country."

On August 23rd, 2010 it was reported that, 200 women gang-raped near Congo U.N. base.
As a President of OkoNGO, I am troubled by the contention of mass rape in my country, that I love so much. Mass rape, what if it was in your backyard? In America, if one person is raped it becomes headline news and a massive manhunt. Why is the Democratic Republic of Congo different? Are we humans? Are we families? Are we people?
As a resident of America and a native of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), I am taken aback by the belief of acceptance when humanity is violated. The ability to stand aside and accept that our fellow humans are mutilated, violated and even worse, unrecognized. The value of humanity has been diminished, skewed by politics and greed. I ask, what is the United Nations (UN)? Does the UN have the ability to keep watch over the very basis of their cause? Politics have engulfed the UN counsel, and become a hindrance more than a value. Where is the UN when my people are being subjected to mass rape, when the stronghold is but a few kilometers away? The UN's mission is to protect, not encourage; see me, find me, protect me; nothing less. I cannot see protection, have not felt protected, and see no outcome as my people in DRC still suffer. How can we continue to trust the UN and rely on them to protect us? Enough is enough!
